"Ukraine's prosecution authorities have notified the governor of Russia's Voronezh region in absentia of suspicion for financing actions aimed at changing Ukraine's territorial borders in violation of the procedures established by the Ukrainian Constitution (Part 1, Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement reads.
According to the investigation, the official financially and materially supported Russian military forces conducting combat operations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Ukrainian soil.
Specifically, the governor organized the delivery of quadcopters, portable radios, generators, vehicles, and night vision devices. He also secured funds from the reserve budget of the Voronezh regional government to support individuals involved in combat against Ukraine's Defense Forces.
The Prosecutor's Office reminded that this official has been under Ukrainian sanctions since October 2022.
Additionally, in 2022 and 2023, he was added to sanctions lists in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand.
