Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on the EU and the US to align their sanctions against Russia, stressing the need to increase pressure.

He emphasized the importance of synchronizing the EU’s 18th sanctions package with American measures in order to force Russia to cease its attacks by sea, land, and air.

Andrii Sybiha made the statement during a panel discussion at the Dubrovnik Forum, which was attended by the Prime Minister of Croatia and the foreign ministers of Italy, Brazil, and the Republic of Togo.

The minister emphasized the importance of consolidating international efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine.

Sanctions against Russia

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump, amid expressing dissatisfaction with Russia, announced a "major statement" regarding the country, which he is expected to deliver on July 14.

It is believed that the statement may relate to new sanctions against Russia — the so-called Graham bill.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal introduced the sanctions bill against Russia in late April.

According to media reports, Trump is already prepared to sign the bill. However, there’s a catch: Trump reportedly wants to maintain sole control over the imposition and removal of sanctions.
