US President Donald Trump said he would make an important statement regarding the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, according to his comment to NBC News.

"I’m disappointed in Russia, but we’ll see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I think I’ll have a major statement to make on Russia on Monday," he said, declining to elaborate.

Trump on weapons for NATO

Trump also stated that NATO would pay for the American weapons designated for Ukraine.

"We’re sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is paying for those weapons, 100%. So what we’re doing is the weapons that are going out are going to NATO, and then NATO is going to be giving those weapons [to Ukraine], and NATO is paying for those weapons," Trump said.

According to Trump, this decision was made at the summit held in June.

Trump's reaction to Russian strikes

Earlier, US President Donald Trump expressed discontent over Russia’s massive drone attack on Ukraine, in which more than 700 drones were used. He said that up to 7,000 people are dying each week on both sides.

Amid this, media reports indicated that he had transferred part of the military aid to Ukraine based on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request list. It was reported that the White House was preparing to send additional weapons to Kyiv, and that Congress intended to pass tough sanctions against Russia.
