The 15th Separate Brigade of Artillery Reconnaissance Black Forest of the Ukrainian Ground Forces located a Russian Buk-M3 air defense system and coordinated a strike on it. The system was destroyed. It is one of the most advanced platforms in the Russian arsenal.

Ukrainian forces delivered another damaging strike against Russia's advanced military equipment.

According to the Black Forest Brigade, its reconnaissance unit identified a newly deployed Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system and provided coordinates for a strike. The system was destroyed in the attack.

The Buk-M3 is a modern medium-range surface-to-air missile system. Its estimated cost is around $45 million.

What is the Buk-M3?

The Buk-M3 is the latest version in Russia's Buk series, originally developed during the Soviet era. It can track and engage up to 36 aerial targets at once, with a maximum range of 70 kilometers.

Russia frequently uses the system to protect frontline command posts, depots, and strategic facilities.

Its destruction is a major loss for Russian air defenses, particularly amid Ukraine's sustained use of drones, missiles, and tactical aviation.

Ukrainian strikes on Russian air defenses

This is not the first successful strike by the Black Forest Brigade. Recently, Ukrainian scouts also located and helped target a Russian Buk-M1 system, which was completely destroyed.

Before that, Ukrainian troops wiped out another Buk-M1 system while it was being relocated.
