Ukraine at 2024 Olympics opening ceremony: Highlights
Ukrainian athletes took part in the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris. The ship with Ukrainian Olympians traveled along the Seine.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics began at 8:30 PM Kyiv time. A total of 58 Ukrainian athletes participated in the event.
The flag bearers for Team Ukraine were tennis player Elina Svitolina and swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk. Alongside the Ukrainian team on the boat were three other delegations: from Turkmenistan, Tuva, and Uruguay.
In total, 140 Ukrainian athletes traveled to France. They will compete in more than twenty disciplines, with the largest representation in athletics, where Ukraine has 25 athletes.
What we know about the 2024 Olympics
The Ukrainian team has chosen the slogan The Will to Win for the 2024 Olympics. The official uniforms, training kits, and competition gear for the Ukrainian athletes were designed by the Polish brand 4F.
Earlier, Suspline channel announced the broadcast of the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics. The events will be aired by regional public broadcaster channels (Suspline Kyiv, Suspline Ternopil, etc.), the YouTube channel, and Suspline Sport. The MEGOGO platform is also co-broadcasting the Games.
NOC President Vadym Gutzeit revealed the prize amounts for Olympic medalists. Gold medalists will receive $125,000, while silver and bronze medalists will earn $100,000 and $80,000, respectively.
Additionally, the Ukrainian football team lost to Iraq at the start of the 2024 Olympics.
