Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Karol Nawrocki will meet on January 25 in Vilnius, according to Polish presidential spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz.
Zelenskyy and Nawrocki, together with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, will take part in the commemoration of the 163rd anniversary of the January Uprising in Vilnius and will also discuss important political issues, including the conditions for peace in Ukraine.
According to Leśkiewicz, the meeting of the three Presidents will take place during a mass at Vilnius Cathedral.
This, he says, is a unifying element: the shared history of the struggle against tsarist Russia today echoes the struggle of Ukrainians against Russia. It is this historical parallel that creates a platform for discussion.
The spokesperson adds that the Presidents are meeting not only to participate in the celebrations, but also to discuss important political issues. According to him, during the visit, there will be a moment when President Nawrocki will talk to President Zelenskyy.
When asked whether the terms of peace in Ukraine would be discussed, Leśkiewicz stresses that they must be determined by the Ukrainians themselves and not imposed.
President Nawrocki "firmly maintains that peace in Ukraine must be worked out through negotiations," the spokesperson says.
At the same time, he adds, "the terms and conditions of that peace must above all be accepted by the Ukrainians themselves."
Previous meeting between Zelenskyy and Nawrocki
On December 19, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Poland, where he met with his Polish counterpart Karol Nawrocki for the first time. The main topics of discussion were security, the economy, and history.
The meeting was initiated by the Polish side. After Nawrocki's victory in the elections, Zelenskyy kept in touch by phone, but a personal meeting took place only now, although the President has repeatedly crossed Poland during his foreign visits.
Despite the fact that Nawrocki has taken a tougher stance on Ukraine than his predecessor, Andrzej Duda, Poland still supports Ukraine, particularly in countering Russian aggression.
Regarding the US peace plan, which Washington initially proposed and which was clearly pro-Russian. The Polish President criticized the American peace plan at the time and said that the aggressor should not be encouraged.
Poland and Ukraine are also cooperating in the military sector. Warsaw may transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in exchange for anti-drone systems.
