Ukrainian and Polish officials have agreed on an action plan to unblock the border checkpoints between the countries, according to the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine on Facebook.

According to the department's information, today, on December 22, a meeting took place between the Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, Serhiy Derkach, and Yurii Vaskov, and Poland's new Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Paweł Gancarz.

"The key outcome of the meeting was an agreement on shared positions regarding the border unblocking. Both sides reached an understanding regarding compromise solutions and their implementation," the statement reads.

The next step involves negotiations between representatives of Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure and the protesters.

However, the amendment to the transport visa-free agreement was not being discussed, emphasized the ministry.

Background

In November, Polish carriers initiated protests at several border crossings with Ukraine, partially blocking the movement of trucks.

This significantly impacted Ukrainian exports, with protesters allowing only 2-3 trucks per hour to pass.

Additionally, today, on December 22, representatives of Poland announced their intention to unblock the border by the end of the year.
