Ukraine and Moldova ready to launch EU accession talks simultaneously - Ukrainian FM

Ukraine and Moldova are set to start accession talks with the European Union simultaneously. Everything is ready for this, stated Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu, according to a correspondent of RBC-Ukraine.
Sybiha emphasized that the path of Ukraine and Moldova towards the European Union is as indivisible as the security of the two countries. This also aligns with Romania’s national interests.
"The strength and influence of the Ukrainian-Moldovan unity on the way to the European Union have worked repeatedly, and we must maintain this unity in the most critical moments to achieve shared success. We need to open the first clusters together with Moldova — together, everything is ready for this," added the Foreign Minister.
Negotiations on EU accession
As early as May 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is ready to begin negotiations for EU membership.
The only obstacle to starting the talks is Hungary’s veto.
On July 27, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán repeatedly stated that Ukraine’s accession to the EU would destroy Hungary and drag the bloc into a war with Russia.
He also claims that most Hungarians oppose Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
Moldova does not face such a problem. At the end of June, Romanian President Nicușor Dan stated that negotiations on Moldova’s EU accession would begin on July 4. However, he later admitted that this information was incorrect.
