Ukraine and EU hold first sectoral consultations on transportation policy
Ukraine held its first sectoral consultations on transportation policy with the European Commission as part of the preparations for official EU accession negotiations, according to the press service of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
Sectoral consultations are preparatory meetings between Ukraine and the European Commission concerning specific negotiation sections.
The meeting included participation from Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna; Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Serhiy Derkach, and the Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU Vsevolod Chentsov.
During the consultations, the participants agreed on the next steps for preparing for a bilateral meeting within the framework of the screening of Ukraine's legislation compliance with EU law under negotiation chapter 14, Transportation Policy.
In the coming months, the parties will work on all aspects of this chapter to identify key gaps and develop frameworks for aligning legislation in these areas.
This will be followed by an official screening of Ukraine's legislation compliance with EU law for the relevant negotiation chapter.
