The British intelligence service MI6 will, for the first time, issue guidance to lawmakers on how to protect themselves against espionage and foreign interference, according to The Sunday Times.

According to the publication, the security service will inform all parliamentarians and politicians deemed "high-risk individuals" about the growing threat posed by hostile states.

The advice for lawmakers and politicians is expected to be published over the next few weeks. MI6 is also likely to include a section on traveling abroad, urging officials not to leave mobile phones and laptops unattended in hotel rooms.

According to reports, British officials have made it clear that, in their view, the main threats of foreign interference come from China and Russia.

Previously, Russia spies have been repeatedly detained in the UK, including some diplomats. Last year, several Russian diplomats reportedly managed to access a restricted area of the British Parliament during a guided tour.

Russia’s ambassador to the UK, Andrey Kelin, did not deny espionage related to Britain’s nuclear submarines.

It is also known that British intelligence MI6 is launching its own specialized portal, Silent Courier, on the dark web to recruit spies from Russia.
