U.S. to announce new military aid package for Ukraine this week - Department of State
The United States of America will announce the delivery of new weaponry to Ukraine this week as part of the next package of military assistance, according to a briefing by Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the U.S. State Department.
Miller declined to disclose the response of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the request from Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, regarding the transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles to our country.
"As we said before, we continue to supply Ukraine with artillery and a whole range of weapons. We have other announcements coming later this week about additional assistance that we planned to provide Ukraine," the spokesperson said.
He also added that the United States is considering the possible transfer of new missiles or defense systems to Ukraine, but there are currently no announcements.
Kuleba-Blinken сonversation
Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on negotiations between Kuleba and Blinken.
During the discussions, the Ukrainian Minister thanked his American counterpart for the assistance provided in defense against Russian aggression. Kuleba also urged the provision of ATACMS to enhance Ukraine's long-range capabilities.
ATACMS missiles are capable of hitting targets up to 300 kilometers away. Earlier, the White House stated that the potential supplies are being discussed at the level of the two countries' presidents.
