U.S. imposes sanctions on organizations that help proliferate ballistic missiles
The United States has imposed sanctions on three companies based in China, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
These sanctions have been introduced in accordance with a presidential executive order aimed at targeting proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems.
The Chinese companies were involved in supplying components used in missile engines for ballistic missiles and in the production of combustion chambers for Pakistan's ballistic missile program.
The sanctions have been imposed on the following companies:
- General Technology Limited - Involved in supplying soldering materials used to connect components in rocket engines for ballistic missiles and in the production of combustion chambers.
- Beijing Luo Luo Technology Development Co Ltd - Engaged in the supply of casings and other equipment that can be used in the production of solid-fuel rocket engines.
- Changzhou Utek Composite Company Ltd - Since 2019, the company has been involved in supplying D-glass fiberglass, quartz fabric, and high-silica fabric, all of which have applications in rocket systems.
These companies were engaged in activities or agreements that significantly contributed to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction or their delivery systems, including missiles capable of delivering such weapons.
In related news, it was reported that the European Union will consult with its member countries in the coming days regarding a new package of sanctions against Russia. This will mark the 12th package of sanctions since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
