The United States and the United Kingdom carried out a second round of strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. This announcement was made by General Lieutenant Douglas Sims, the director of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to the post of Voice of America correspondent Misha Komadovsky on X.

"The US and British forces carried out a second round of strikes late Thursday, targeting 12 Houthi locations," the journalist quoted Sims.

Sims clarified that these strikes occurred after the US and the UK hit 60 targets in 16 locations.

Background

In recent months, the Houthi rebels have repeatedly attempted to attack civilian ships in the Red Sea. US ships, among others, have been targeted by their attacks.

In response, American and British military forces conducted a series of strikes on January 12, targeting objects in Yemen associated with the Houthi rebels.

According to the White House, the consequences of these strikes are still being assessed in Washington.

As mentioned by the UK Minister of Armed Forces, James Heappey, there are currently no plans for further strikes on Yemen.
