The United States is likely to announce another package of military assistance to Ukraine by the end of December, says John Kirby, the coordinator of the National Security Council at the White House, during a briefing.

Journalists asked Kirby whether President Joe Biden would announce a new package of military aid to Ukraine during the meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy scheduled for tomorrow, December 12.

"I don't want to get too far ahead of the president, but, as you know, we don't have too many more weeks left in this year to be able to provide security assistance (to Ukraine). So I would fully expect that you are going to see us announce additional security assistance before the end of the month," Kirby noted.

Background

The United States is running out of funds allocated for financing military aid to Ukraine. In response, President Joe Biden requested over $100 billion from Congress, including over $60 billion for Ukraine.

There are discrepancies in Congress regarding this package, as Republicans insist on including proposals to enhance border security.

Against this backdrop, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the United States.
