Two Ukrainian police officers killed in Russia's brutal attack on Kramatorsk

During a massive attack on Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region on the evening of August 22, two police officers from the Ivano-Frankivsk region were killed. They were struck by a guided aerial bomb launched by Russian forces, reports Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Police.
"On August 22, 2025, in the city of Kramatorsk, as a result of a Russian airstrike, officers of the Ivano-Frankivsk Main Regional Department of the National Police were killed," the statement said.
The deceased were 38-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Solovianchyk and 38-year-old Captain Ihor Martyniuk. Both served as Senior Inspectors in the Special Purpose Police Battalion.
The exact circumstances of their deaths are unknown. Preliminary reports indicate both were killed during one of the airstrikes on the city. Russian forces shelled Kramatorsk more than 40 times on the evening of August 22.
"These police officers served for more than a year in the Special Purpose Battalion. They were true officers, distinguished by remarkable courage and persistence. They were dedicated to their work, faithful to the Oath, and true sons of their country," the statement added.

As a reminder, Russian forces carried out a massive bombardment of Kramatorsk on the evening of August 22. Over 40 explosions were reported in the city within 24 hours. In one hour alone, more than 30 explosions struck as Russian aircraft targeted civilian areas with guided aerial bombs.
