At a military base in Russia, two Valdai radar systems were destroyed. The base is responsible for airspace security over Moscow, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence reports.

According to intelligence, on the night of February 6-7, 2025, a powerful explosion occurred at military unit 52116 in the city of Dolgoprudny, near Moscow.

The explosion destroyed two Russian Valdai radar systems, which are designed for 24/7 automated detection and counteraction against UAVs.

"This is the latest development from the Russian military-industrial complex – the first model in its class, adopted for the army of the aggressor state, Russia," the statement says.

According to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, the military base where Valdai radar systems exploded is responsible for the security of the airspace above Moscow.

In 2023, Russian Major General Konstantin Ogienko was arrested. He was the commander of the 1st Special Purpose Air Defense Army tasked with protecting Moscow from aerial strikes.

Ogienko was detained for taking bribes to assist with the illegal transfer of land adjacent to the military base. The land in question belonged to Russia's Ministry of Defense in Dolgoprudny, a suburb of Moscow.

Earlier, Russian propagandists released a report about anti-aircraft missile systems supposedly protecting Moscow from drone attacks. As it turned out, they showcased these anti-aircraft missile systems near the residence of President Vladimir Putin.
