Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will arrive in Kyiv on Thursday, May 29, for a two-day visit, reports Reuters.
His trip will take place immediately after talks in Moscow, where he discussed ending the war in Ukraine with Russian president Vladimir Putin and other high-ranking officials.
Citing sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Reuters writes that Fidan will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The Turkish minister plans to emphasize the need for a diplomatic end to the war and repeat his proposal to resume direct peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
He is also expected to voice Ankara's readiness to join the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
Fidan will emphasize the growing negative consequences of the protracted conflict and advocate for a just and lasting peace. The parties also plan to discuss bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, defense, and security.
Ankara continues to maintain contact with both sides of the war, and Türkiye could possibly again become a platform for potential peace talks.
