Istanbul talks
Today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye for a potential meeting with Vladimir Putin. Last week, the Russian leader ignored a joint demand from Ukraine and the EU for an immediate ceasefire, instead proposing to return to negotiations based on 2022 positions.
Talks are scheduled to take place in Istanbul today. Despite Zelenskyy’s stated readiness to meet Putin face-to-face, the Kremlin has not confirmed Putin’s participation. Moreover, Moscow kept the composition of its delegation secret until the last minute.
It was later revealed that Putin sent a low-level delegation to the talks, headed by his aide Vladimir Medinsky.
