President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Ankara on Thursday, May 15. He will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Zelenskyy and Erdoğan are scheduled to meet at 1 p.m.

According to the source, after that, the President of Ukraine will decide on further steps regarding negotiations with the Russian delegation, which is already in Istanbul.

Vladimir Putin will not come to Türkiye for talks with Zelenskyy. Instead, Putin sent a group of Russian officials headed by his aide, Vladimir Medinsky, a participant in the 2022 talks between Ukraine and Russia.

Possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

Last week, Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to Putin's proposal to resume direct talks between Ukraine and Russia. Zelenskyy said he would wait for Putin in Türkiye on May 15.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president emphasized that he would speak only with Putin, not with his envoys.

The WSJ reported that the Ukrainian team could discuss a ceasefire with the Russian delegation. But so far, the meeting has not been officially confirmed.
