Trump will unblock TikTok in US: Condition
On Monday, US President-elect Donald Trump will issue a decree to delay the implementation of the law banning TikTok in the country. The document will be issued after the inauguration, but there is a condition, Truth Social reports.
"The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my order," Trump writes.
In addition, he described how he sees the possibility of solving the problem so that the social network can continue to operate in the United States. He also talks about the acquisition of 50% ownership by the United States.
"I would like the United States to have a 50% ownership position in a joint venture. By doing this, we save TikTok, keep it in good hands, and allow it to say up. Without U.S. approval, there is no TikTok. With our approval, it is worth hundreds of billions of dollars - maybe trillions. Therefore, my initial thought is a joint venture between the current owners and/or new owners whereby the U.S. gets a 50% ownership in a joint venture set up between the U.S. and whichever purchase we so choose," Trump explained.
TikTok ban in the US
On Sunday, the US enacted a law banning TikTok in the country, as the parent company ByteDance did not sell the platform.
In this regard, as of 22:50 local time, the social network was removed from the Apple and Google app stores, and a corresponding window was displayed during the event for those who had it installed.
"Sorry, TikTok is not available right now. A law has been passed in the United States that bans TikTok. Unfortunately, this means that you cannot use TikTok for the time being. We are fortunate that President Trump has made it clear that he will work with us on a solution to restore TikTok as soon as he takes office. Please stay tuned," the message read.
Due to the pop-up window, some people could not scroll through the video feed, while others could only see the inscription on a white background.
