Trump: We hope China will help stop war between Ukraine and Russia

US leader Donald Trump expressed hope for China's support in ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. He believes that by joining forces, it would be possible to bring this to an end, according to his statement.
The US President emphasized the need for fair relations between the United States and China, highlighting that the accumulated trade deficit with China, amounting to $1.1 trillion, is unacceptable.
"He called me (Chinese leader Xi Jinping, - ed.), but I see it very good. I think that we're going to have a very good relationship. All we want is fairness. We just want a level playing field," Trump stated.
He also stressed that despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in Wuhan, the US and China must maintain effective cooperation.
At the same time, Trump mentioned China’s role in ending the war between Ukraine and Russia.
"Hopefully, China can help us stop the war with, in particular, Russia-Ukraine, and they have a great deal of power over that situation, and, we'll work with them, and I mentioned that during our phone conversation with President Xi. And hopefully, we could work together and get that stopped," he said.
It is worth noting that discussions about ending Russia’s war against Ukraine have intensified with Donald Trump’s assumption of the US presidency.
Ukraine rejects Russia’s ultimatums and aims to secure strong security guarantees. Meanwhile, the White House plans to invest in the peace process within 100 days.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated yesterday that Chinese leader Xi Jinping could push Russian President Vladimir Putin toward peace, noting that Russia's economy is heavily dependent on China.
