US allies in the Middle East are growing increasingly frustrated by the intensifying hostilities between American forces and the Iranian regime. They believe Donald Trump should go all in, Bloomberg reports.
According to insiders, frustration among Gulf countries is growing due to the lack of unity over exactly how the United States should proceed.
Some officials are urging Trump to intensify the military campaign. One of the main scenarios is the deployment of ground troops to Iran. The seizure of Kharg Island, a key hub for Iranian oil exports, is also being proposed.
The officials believe the Iranian regime will not give up control of the Strait of Hormuz or make concessions until Trump decides on a truly serious escalation.
Gulf countries fear that a prolonged, even relatively limited conflict could last for months, deterring foreign investors and tourists from the region.
The view of many officials is that the US needs to "escalate to de-escalate," said David Schenker, an American diplomat who worked in the Middle East during Trump's first presidential term.
According to him, Washington needs to do more, as the current dynamics will not force Iran to make concessions, either on the Strait of Hormuz or its nuclear program.
The US Defense Department recently disclosed the exact cost of Trump's war against Iran.
It was also reported that the head of the White House threatened to deal with the Houthis if they block the Red Sea.
