Trump to sue WSJ over report on erotic gift to Epstein

US President Donald Trump accused The Wall Street Journal of fabricating a story about him allegedly sending greetings to Jeffrey Epstein 20 years ago and threatened to file a lawsuit, according to The Wall Street Journal and Trump’s post on Truth Social.
Before diving into the article, it's worth noting that in 2006, Jeffrey Epstein was accused of sexually abusing underage girls, a case that quickly became public. That same year, he was arrested.
Thirteen years later, in 2019, Epstein died in jail following a second arrest, this time on charges of conspiracy and trafficking minors for sex.
Returning to the Trump story, The Wall Street Journal reported that in 2003, when Jeffrey Epstein turned 50, Ghislaine Maxwell prepared a special birthday gift. She reached out to Epstein’s family and friends, one of them being Donald Trump.
According to documents reviewed by WSJ, Maxwell compiled letters from Trump and about a dozen other Epstein associates into a birthday album for 2003.
The letter attributed to Trump, which the outlet claims to have seen, was described as obscene, similar in tone to the others in the album.
It consisted of a few lines of typed text, framed by the outline of a naked woman, apparently hand-drawn with a thick marker. A pair of small curves represented her breasts, and Trump’s signature, a wavy "Donald" below her waist, was said to mimic pubic hair.
The letter ended with the phrase: "Happy birthday - and may each day be another great secret."
What Trump says
On Tuesday evening, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump denied writing the letter or drawing the illustration.
He stated that the letter and drawing were not his, calling it a fabrication by The Wall Street Journal. He insisted he had never drawn a picture in his life, did not draw women, and that the language and words used were not his.
Trump also told the outlet he was preparing to sue if the article was published.
In the end, WSJ ran the story, after which Trump accused the outlet of spreading false information and announced his intention to take legal action.
"President Trump will be suing The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Mr. Murdoch, shortly. The Press has to learn to be truthful, and not rely on sources that probably don't even exist. President Trump has already beaten George Stephanopoulos/ABC, 60 Minutes/CBS, and others, and looks forward to suing and holding accountable the once great Wall Street Journal. It has truly turned out to be a 'Disgusting and Filthy Rag' and, writing defamatory lies like this, shows their desperation to remain relevant," read a post by the US president.
