Trump to sign directive on 'maximum pressure' on Iran – Sky News

Today, February 4, US President Donald Trump will sign a memorandum putting “maximum pressure” on Iran, Sky News reports.
According to a US official, Trump's goal is to deprive Iran of all paths to nuclear weapons and to counter its “malign influence” in the Middle East.
New sanctions are expected to be imposed, as well as measures against those who already violate existing restrictions.
Sanctions against Iran
Before his inauguration, US President Donald Trump announced that he planned to tighten sanctions against Iran.
Earlier, the administration of former US President Joe Biden introduced a new package of sanctions against 35 organizations and vessels. According to the US Treasury Department, they are involved in the transportation of illegal Iranian oil.
Meanwhile, the European Union has imposed sanctions on Iran over the supply of missiles to Russia.
