Trump to not nominate Stefanik as US ambassador to UN

President Donald Trump has reversed his decision to nominate Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as US Ambassador to the UN. He asked her to remain in Congress to avoid weakening the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, according to Trump’s statement on his social media platform, Truth Social.
"As we advance our America First Agenda, it is essential that we maintain EVERY Republican Seat in Congress," Trump stated.
He asked Stefanik to remain in Congress "to help me deliver Historic Tax Cuts, GREAT Jobs, Record Economic Growth, a Secure Border, Energy Dominance, Peace Through Strength," and so on.
"With a very tight Majority, I don’t want to take a chance on anyone else running for Elise’s seat," emphasized the US president.
Donald Trump claims that "there are others that can do a good job at the United Nations." At the same time, he noted that House Speaker Mike Johnson was "thrilled" with his decision. Trump also stated that he would offer Stefanik a position in his administration in the future.
"She is absolutely FANTASTIC," Trump concluded.
While being a candidate for US ambassador to the UN, Elise Stefanik stated in January that she would support President Trump’s mission to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. She specifically noted that she would promote his peace through strength concept.
She also claimed to have a "strong record when it comes to deterring Russia" and countering its actions. During Trump’s presidency, Stefanik "voted for providing defensive lethal aid to Ukraine."
