The US plans to hold the first official meeting of the Board of Peace under President Donald Trump on February 19. The meeting is set to take place in Washington, according to Bloomberg and Axios.
"It will be the first Board of Peace meeting and a fundraising conference for Gaza reconstruction," a US official said.
Currently, the Board has 27 members, with Trump serving as chair. On Friday, February 6, the White House began contacting dozens of countries to invite their leaders and discuss logistical matters.
"Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the administration is planning it and has started checking which leaders are able to attend," one source said.
Axios added that the summit plans are still in the early stages and may change.
Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu and details about Board of Peace
Previously, Axios reported that US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may meet on February 18, just one day before the first meeting of the Board of Peace.
"If Netanyahu participates in the Board of Peace meeting, it will be his first public meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders since the attacks on October 7 and the war in Gaza," the outlet said.
On January 22, Trump held a ceremony to create the Board of Peace, attended by representatives of fewer than 20 countries, none of which were major Western allies of Washington.
Initially, the board was expected to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction after the war between Israel and Hamas, but its charter does not limit its work to this region. According to Trump, the board’s goal is to promote peace in a broader sense.
