A new armada of United States Navy ships is moving toward Iran to strengthen Washington's military presence in the region, US President Donald Trump said, CNBC reports.
"There's another beautiful armada (of US Navy ships – ed.) floating beautifully toward Iran right now," the President of the United States said.
At the same time, Trump did not rule out a diplomatic resolution of the crisis with Iran and expressed hope for the signing of a bilateral agreement between the two countries.
"I hope they make a deal. They should have made a deal the first time they'd have a country," the American leader emphasized.
The United States strengthens its presence around Iran
As of January 27, the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by three ships armed with Tomahawk missiles, entered the area of responsibility of US Central Command.
In addition to naval forces, the Pentagon has reinforced strike aviation and defense: a dozen additional F-15E strike aircraft have been sent to the region, and Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) systems have been deployed to protect US bases. It is also known that long-range bombers on US territory have been placed on heightened alert.
Against the backdrop of the increased military presence, the White House has put forward several conditions to Tehran for any agreement, including the complete removal of enriched uranium and restrictions on the missile program.
Recently, US intelligence informed the US president that Iran's government is now at its weakest point since 1979. Amid Tehran's economic collapse, the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln arrived in the region with missile escorts.
Protests that erupted in late 2025 have spread even to areas of the country that were traditionally considered strongholds of support for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
