In an interview with NBC News, US President Donald Trump once again stated that he needs time to respond to whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is "tapping him along."

During the conversation, Trump was reminded of a post in which he suggested that the Kremlin leader "is tapping him along" and may not want to end the war in Ukraine.

Notably, during a conversation with journalists at the end of April, he said he needed two weeks to respond to whether he trusts Putin.

In an NBC interview, when asked if he had underestimated Putin, Trump said it would take another couple of weeks or a month.

"No, I'll tell you about it in a month from now, or two weeks from now. I have no idea. I can tell you this: his ambition was stopped to a large extent when he saw that I was now leading the charge. Because he wasn’t dealing with anybody in Europe, he wasn't calling them back," Trump responded.

Trump changes his opinion about Putin

Five days ago, on April 30, Trump, in an interview with ABC, showed that he still believes Putin supposedly wants to end the war against Ukraine. This was despite posting the above-mentioned statement just a few days earlier, suggesting the opposite amid intensified Russian shelling.

At the same time, Politico, following the funeral of Pope Francis and a series of Trump's meetings in the Vatican, reported that he was convinced that Putin was "tapping him along."
