Trump sets date for next round US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia - Euronews

US President Donald Trump has announced a second round of peace talks on Ukraine with Russian diplomats. It will take place next week, Euronews reports.
According to the media outlet, Trump announced a new stage of ceasefire talks in Ukraine between the US and Russian delegations in a statement published by C-Span.
According to Trump, the talks will take place in the Saudi capital Riyadh on February 25, a week after the first round, which took place in the same city last Tuesday.
The source also recalls that after the meeting, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the parties generally agreed to achieve three goals
- restore the staffing of their embassies in Washington and Moscow;
- create a high-level group to support peace talks on Ukraine;
- and explore opportunities for closer relations and economic cooperation.
At the same time, he emphasized that the talks, which were attended by his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and other senior Russian officials, marked the beginning of a dialogue and that there is still much work to be done.
Euronews also notes that the first round of talks in Riyadh prompted European allies to rally around Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is concerned about Trump's alleged turn toward Moscow and fears that the talks will take place without Ukraine's direct participation and in favor of Russia.
US President Donald Trump is threatening Ukraine with consequences if Kyiv does not sign an agreement granting the United States access to Ukrainian mineral resources. He predicts that if this does not happen, Ukraine will have "a lot of problems."
