Trump hopes to sign agreement with Ukraine for 400-500 billion dollars very soon

US President Donald Trump has threatened Ukraine with consequences if Kyiv does not sign an agreement with Washington granting the US access to Ukrainian mineral resources. In such a case, the White House chief predicts that Ukraine will face many problems, according to White House correspondent Fraser Jackson on his Twitter (X) and on Sky News.
"Trump on the Ukrainian mineral deal: 'We're either going to sign a deal or there's going to be a lot of problems with them,'" reads Fraser Jackson's post.
Western media outlets add that while discussing the US defense support to Ukraine, which continues to repel Russia's large-scale military aggression, the current American leader stated, that Biden only gave them money, there was no loan or guarantees, so we are going to sign the deal... otherwise, they will have a lot of problems.
Trump said that they were going to sign the deal to secure safety because they had to do it.
According to him, the US is spending its treasury, while they (the Ukrainians) are spending their blood.
The US president said that it was true the Ukrainians were very brave, which was hard to imagine, but they were spending their treasury on a country that was very far from them. He added that it was okay, but they needed to make sure that Europe was spending too.
Trump also believes that "we are pretty close. It's a big deal, but they want it."
Additionally, the US president expressed hope that we will very soon sign a deal with Ukraine for $400-500 billion.
Issue regarding the agreement between Ukraine and the US on minerals
The American president, Donald Trump, had expressed interest in signing an agreement with Ukraine, under which the US would gain control over 50% of rare-earth metals and several other strategic assets in Ukraine in exchange for continued US support in the war against Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently refused to sign the document, as the draft agreement did not contain any mention of security guarantees.
Following this, the Trump administration expressed disappointment with Zelenskyy's decision.
On February 20, Axios reported that the Trump administration had handed Ukraine a new version of the agreement on rare-earth metals. This version takes into account several of Kyiv's concerns and complies with Ukraine's current legislation.
Trump's team is now awaiting Zelenskyy's signature on the agreement for US control over the rare-earth metals.
In his evening video address on February 21, Zelenskyy commented on the work being done on the agreement with the US and stated that he hopes for a fair outcome.
