Trump seeks to use military resources for mass deportation program
US President-elect Donald Trump may deploy military resources to implement his mass deportation program, which will target criminals, according to Newsweek.
The agency noted that on the social network Truth Social, conservative activist Tom Fitton wrote about the new Trump administration's readiness to "declare a national emergency" and to use military resources to implement the mass deportation program.
"True," commented Trump on Fitton's post.
It is important to note that Trump had previously promised to deploy the National Guard and government agencies as part of his deportation policy.
"On day one, I will launch the largest deportation program of criminals in the history of America," he assured during his election campaign.
The politician also mentioned that he would use the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, which authorizes the president to deport foreign nationals deemed hostile to the United States, to expedite the expulsion of known gang or cartel members.
Trump will become president
Donald Trump won the presidential election. One of the reasons for his victory was his promise to crack down on illegal immigration in the US.
Trump's inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025, after which he will officially become the President of the United States.
