The US says it is holding "productive discussions" with Iran and promises not to bomb the country before November 3, when the US midterm elections will take place, President Donald Trump said, according to Rapid Response 47.

Trump makes statement on Iran

Trump said the US is holding talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran that are "productive."

He also noted that Iran is in very bad condition, both economically and militarily. According to Trump, the full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is contributing to this situation.

"Oil flowing in record numbers of barrels through the Hormuz Strait (22 million barrels, last night alone, with not one barrel coming from, or going to, Iran!)" he stated.

Against this backdrop, the US president promised not to attack Iran before the midterm elections, which will take place in the United States on November 3.

Trump concluded by stating that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.

Earlier, Trump said at a rally in Nebraska that Iran could "destroy" Los Angeles and San Diego. However, he described this as a small price to pay for the security of the world and the US.

In addition, Trump answered affirmatively when asked whether Iran was involved in the incident involving a Flydubai aircraft.

Iran is also reportedly continuing to prepare a broader response in case the US resumes large-scale military attacks. Few believe that negotiations will lead to a peace agreement.
