US President Donald Trump made a statement about Ukraine, saying that the country will "get a lot of land.”

Trump suggested earlier that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine might require some territorial exchange.

He said that Ukraine would regain part of its territories.

The media wrote that Russian leader Vladimir Putin allegedly wants Ukraine to fully withdraw troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in exchange for freezing the front lines in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Territorial issues

Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, said earlier that Russia had allegedly made concessions to Ukraine regarding five regions. However, there was no clarity in his words, and he was confused when asked by journalists.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on August 17 in Brussels, emphasized that any territorial issues should only be discussed during a trilateral meeting of leaders. At present, Moscow is not sending signals that it is ready for such a format.

According to media reports, Vladimir Putin appealed to the United States to recognize the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories as part of Russia.

Besides, he allegedly proposed freezing the front in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions in exchange for ending hostilities and the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbas, as well as a written guarantee that Russia would not attack Ukraine or Europe.
