Trump says his economic policy puts end to wars

US President Donald Trump said that tariffs play a key role in his ability to make peace deals, adding that the United States would not engage with countries involved in wars, CNN reported.
"The tariffs have brought peace to the world, I’m telling you. They have brought peace to the world," he told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Wednesday night, arguing the tariffs give "you a tremendous road to peace and the saving of millions of lives, just millions and millions of lives."
The head of state also stressed that his tariffs had helped India and Pakistan reach a ceasefire earlier this year.
Trump's tariffs
In April, Donald Trump imposed import tariffs on more than 180 countries, ranging from 10% to 50%.
After several postponements, on August 1, the United States implemented tariffs on 40 countries with which it had not signed individual trade agreements.
Later, it was reported that Washington was prepared to pressure G7 countries to introduce 50–100% tariffs on India and China for purchasing Russian oil.
Starting November 1, the US will introduce a new 25% tariff on imports of large and medium-sized trucks.
