Trump says he will not 'fire people' over Signal scandal

US President Donald Trump promised not to fire anyone over the scandal about the messages exchanged in the Signal messenger, where members of his administration discussed strikes against the Houthis in Yemen, according to the Associated Press.
In this way, the American leader confirmed reports from Western media that the White House has no intention of firing National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who earlier openly took responsibility for accidentally adding a journalist to the group chat while discussing the attack on the Houthis.
"I don’t fire people because of fake news and because of witch hunts," Trump emphasized in an interview with Kristen Welker from NBC News.
He also stated that he trusts Waltz and Pentagon Chief Pete Hegset.
Earlier, when asked if there had been discussions about firing his National Security Advisor, Trump insisted that he never heard of it.
Signal leak scandal
Recently, a major scandal erupted in the US after Waltz accidentally added The Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a group discussion among high-ranking officials in the Signal chat about plans for airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
Following this, The Atlantic published an article about the data leak, which shocked the national security establishment.

Additionally, yesterday Politico reported that US Vice President JD Vance suggested to Trump that he should fire Waltz.
Sources from Western media revealed that President Trump agreed that Waltz made a mistake but ultimately decided not to fire him for one reason - to avoid giving liberal media and Democrats a chance to claim they were right.
