Vance, top advisers push Trump to dismiss Waltz over Signal leak - Politico

Several people from US President Donald Trump’s inner circle suggested that he dismiss his National Security Advisor. This recommendation came after a scandal involving messaging on Signal, informs Politico.
Sources say that on Wednesday, US Vice President JD Vance, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and senior personnel official Sergio Gor advised Trump to consider firing Mike Waltz.
Sources revealed that while Trump agreed that Waltz had made a mistake, he ultimately decided not to fire him for one reason: to avoid giving "liberal media" and Democrats the chance to claim victory.
Politico noted that the senior officials were angered by Waltz's refusal to take responsibility for the incident. However, the biggest disappointment in the White House was Waltz’s failure to offer his resignation.
Despite the situation, Waltz still holds his position. However, this does not mean he is out of danger. According to two sources, some members of the Trump administration are waiting for the right moment to fire him and move beyond the news cycle.
"They’ll stick by him for now, but he’ll be gone in a couple of weeks," one source predicted.
Background
This week, a major scandal erupted after National Security Advisor Mike Waltz added The Atlantic's editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal chat where officials were discussing airstrikes in Yemen.
Moreover, CNN reported that US Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, revealed highly classified information in this chat.
Following the scandal, both Trump and his administration officials denied that classified information had been discussed in the chat. However, on Wednesday, The Atlantic published new screenshots of the conversation, showing specific details about the airstrikes carried out in Yemen.
