Trump says he will meet with Putin 'as soon as we can set it up'

US President Donald Trump wants to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Trump stated that this would happen as soon as such a meeting could be organized, Rapid Response 47 reports, citing the US President's statement.
In particular, Trump made the announcement while speaking to journalists in Abu Dhabi. The Head of White House said he is returning to Washington after completing his tour of the Persian Gulf countries.
During his interaction with the press, Trump said he would meet with Putin "as soon as we can set it up."
"I think it's time for us just to do it... We're going to get it done," the US President said.
Commenting on the talks between Ukraine and Russia set to take place in Türkiye, Trump stated: "We'll see what happens with Russia and Ukraine."

The US President had earlier said he might fly to Türkiye, where Ukrainian and US delegations are meeting today. Trump noted he would attend "if it's appropriate."
Ukraine-Russia talks
On May 16, Ukrainian and Russian delegations are holding their first negotiations in three years in Istanbul, with Türkiye acting as mediator.
Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Türkiye, hoping to meet directly with Putin. However, the Russian leader ignored Zelensky's proposal for face-to-face talks.
Instead, Putin sent a delegation of low-level Russian officials, led by his aide Vladimir Medinsky, who also participated in negotiations in 2022.
The Ukrainian delegation is headed by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. For more details on the talks in Istanbul, read our material on the topic.
