Donald Trump Jr., son of the US President Donald Trump, lashed out at critics of special envoy Steve Witkoff, who became embroiled in a scandal over the leak of transcripts of his conversations with Russians, according to a post by Trump Jr. on social media.

Amid the scandal over the leaked transcript of conversations between Witkoff and an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, Trump Jr. lashed out at both the media and American politicians who had harshly criticized Witkoff.

"It's almost like these media and Deep State m***** have never successfully negotiated a deal in the real world. It's pretty obvious that nearly all of Witkoff's critics want any sort of Ukraine peace deal to fail so they can continue this war endlessly. Enough is enough!" he wrote.

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the US president, is known for his anti-Ukrainian stance. In particular, he has repeatedly called for ending all aid to Ukraine and has spread Russian propaganda and insults targeting both Ukraine and its leadership.

Leak of Witkoff and Ushakov negotiations

Earlier, on November 26, Bloomberg published recordings of conversations between Witkoff and Ushakov. The transcript shows that Trump’s special envoy advised Putin’s aide on how to present Russian peace proposals in Ukraine to the US president, effectively serving Kremlin interests rather than Washington’s.

In particular, Witkoff reportedly disrupted the delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. He also advised Ushakov to arrange a call between Putin and Trump one day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the US.

Additionally, it appears that the so-called peace plan, which the White House attempted to push on Ukraine last week, was developed by the Russian regime, not the US. This is also evident from the published transcripts.

Amid the scandal, the White House unexpectedly defended Trump’s envoy. Notably, it did not dispute the accuracy of the transcript and even praised Witkoff for his actions.

However, opinions among US politicians are sharply divided. Some influential Republicans in Congress have openly called Witkoff a Russian agent and a "traitor."
