A sociological survey has shown that in the US, the majority of voters support Ukraine, with almost no one expressing sympathy for Russia. Meanwhile, voters consider Trump’s policy either pro-Russian or neutral, according to NBC News.

According to the latest national poll by the TV channel, 61% sympathize with Ukraine, while only 2% sympathize with Russia. The rest do not express support for either side.

At the same time, 49% of Americans surveyed described Donald Trump as sympathetic to Russia, while 40% considered his stance neutral. Only 8% of Americans acknowledged Trump's support for Ukraine.

The survey was conducted by sociologist Jeff Horwitt. According to him, he does not recall a situation where American sympathies toward a particular country and public opinion about the actions of the US president regarding that country were so drastically different.

At the same time, the TV channel notes that this division is partly due to the political preferences within American society.

Thus, 88% of Democratic Party supporters back Ukraine, while 57% of Republicans do not support either side.

Trump's policy on Ukraine

After being elected president of the US, Donald Trump actively began encouraging Ukraine to negotiate a ceasefire with Russia. The American leader adopted a tougher stance towards Kyiv than towards Moscow.

Following negotiations in Saudi Arabia, the US and Ukraine agreed on a plan for a 30-day ceasefire along the entire front line of the war.

However, Putin did not provide a clear response regarding whether he would order a ceasefire on Russia's side and stated that Ukraine could use this period to strengthen its military's defense capabilities and ramp up mobilization. Essentially, this can be seen as a rejection of the proposed ceasefire by Putin.

Nonetheless, Trump supports dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin and will hold a new phone call with him on Tuesday, March 18. The leaders will discuss land, power stations, and the distribution of certain assets.

The US president is confident that the Kremlin will agree to the 30-day ceasefire proposal with Ukraine.
