The United States wants not only to end the war in Ukraine but also to establish a security architecture to prevent hostilities from breaking out again, Trump's special envoy Jared Kushner said.
He stressed that, under the US president's leadership, American negotiators are actively working with all sides to find a path to lasting peace.
"Our focus is not only on ending this terrible war, but on the broader security architecture needed to ensure that when the fighting stops, it never starts again," Kushner said.
Trump's son-in-law added that the US side values the constructive engagement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team, and Ukraine's commitment to finding a way forward toward a settlement.
Peace talks
As previously reported, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff recently announced that the United States would mediate talks between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10–11. According to him, the sides will discuss postwar security, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts, and further steps toward peace.
As also reported, President Zelenskyy spoke with Witkoff and Kushner on November 4. They focused on preparations for the upcoming talks.
In addition, Zelenskyy recently said that Witkoff had handed Russian President Vladimir Putin a document outlining US proposals for the postwar period in Ukraine.
