Trump ridicules Musk's rumored political ambitions

A new political force may emerge in the US, potentially reshaping the country’s political landscape. The initiative is being led by Elon Musk, the world’s richest man. US President Donald Trump has already shared his views on the matter, according to his latest interview.
US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Elon Musk’s idea of creating a third political party, calling the move ridiculous and unlikely to have any serious impact on American politics.
"I think it’s ridiculous, discussing the third party. We have a tremendous success with the Republican Party. The Democrats have lost their way, but it’s always been a two-party system. And I think starting a new party just ends with confusion. So he can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous," Trump said during an interview, commenting on reports about the political ambitions of the Tesla and SpaceX founder.
Trump appears confident that even a bold idea like forming a third party has little chance of success.
Musk's Party
On July 5, Elon Musk announced the creation of his political party, naming it the American Party. He declared that the new force would stand in opposition to Donald Trump's Republican Party.
The move came in response to the passage of the sweeping Big Beautiful Bill, which Musk described as a form of "debt slavery."
Positioned as an alternative to the US two-party system, the American Party aims to represent nearly 80% of centrists who feel unrepresented by either the Democratic or Republican parties.
Until recently, Musk had been one of Trump’s biggest supporters, even dancing alongside him at campaign rallies last year and contributing $250 million to Trump's campaign.
However, Musk strongly opposed Trump's new major tax and spending legislation, calling the measures "absurd, destructive, and completely insane."
Incidentally, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also criticized Musk's political ambitions, saying the billionaire should focus on running his companies instead of diving into politics.
