US President Donald Trump stated that the campaign against Iran will not last longer than four weeks. This had been planned from the very beginning, according to the US leader’s interview with NBC News.

Trump suggested that the next four weeks would see intense fighting. However, he is confident that Iran will be defeated, and he said the results of the Iranian strikes did not surprise him.
“It's always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It's always been about a four-week process so - as strong as it is, it's a big country, it'll take four weeks - or less,” he noted.
The media believes the reason for such statements by Donald Trump is not his confidence in achieving victory within four weeks. The US and Israel are trying to undermine Iran’s military power as quickly as possible and force it to capitulate, as a serious problem has already emerged — the massive expenditure of air defense ammunition could leave Washington with depleted arsenals.
During the same interview, Trump himself acknowledged that US forces involved in the operation against Iran have already suffered losses following Tehran’s retaliatory strikes. The American president has also named the conditions under which he might suspend the operation.
In particular, during the strikes, most of Iran’s military leadership and the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were reportedly eliminated. According to Trump, Iran lost as many as 48 officials as a result of the attacks.
At the same time, Donald Trump claims that Iran’s new leaders want to resume dialogue with the US, and he is open to this. However, he did not specify when such meetings might take place. For now, hostilities continue, with the US and Israel striking Iran, while Iran is retaliating by shelling nearly all neighboring countries.
