According to Trump, negotiations with Tehran are continuing and are progressing quite rapidly. One of the key issues remains the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.
Trump said that a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran could pave the way for the resumption of shipping as early as this week.
At the same time, the US President did not rule out the possibility that the naval blockade around the Strait of Hormuz could last until Labor Day in the United States, which falls on September 7 this year. However, he considers such a scenario unlikely and expects the situation to be resolved sooner.
"I don’t know. I mean, I think it could be, but I think it’s unlikely. I think that we’ll have it. I think this will resolve itself fairly quickly," Trump explained.
He also noted that the negotiation process with Tehran has already faced difficulties. Among the reasons, he cited delays in exchanging messages and disagreements between the sides on certain issues.
Despite this, the US President gave a positive assessment of the talks.
According to Trump, negotiations with Iran are "rapidly evolving."
In recent days, oil prices have been rising amid uncertainty surrounding the talks between the United States and Iran.
According to Reuters, Brent crude prices climbed to nearly $95 per barrel after the two sides failed to sign a preliminary peace agreement and military incidents resumed in the Persian Gulf.
