Only the right deal with Washington can save Iran from strikes by the US. At the same time, a change of regime in Iran would be the best thing that could happen, states US President Donald Trump.
A journalist asked Trump what Iran could do to avoid an attack. He replied:
“Give us the deal that they should have given us the first time. They give us the right deal, we won't do that. But you know, historically they haven't done that,” the US president said.
He also added that politicians in Tehran only talk a lot but show no real action. According to Trump, a change of regime in Iran would be the best thing that could happen.
“For 47 years, they've been talking and talking and talking. In the meantime, we've lost a lot of lives while they talk, and legs blown off, arms blown off, faces blown off. It's been going on for a long time,” the White House chief emphasized.
Escalation between Iran and the US
Tehran and Washington are currently in confrontation, mainly due to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, which the Islamic Republic refuses to give up.
Recently, Trump again stated that Tehran must reach a deal with Washington, or the US may take decisive action against Iran.
Washington aims to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and advanced missiles. On February 12, Trump said that only such a deal would be acceptable to the US.
On February 12, Iran suggested it might agree to limit uranium enrichment to 60% if all financial sanctions were lifted.
Washington demanded that Iran abandon its uranium stockpiles, which the UN agency estimated last year at over 440 kg enriched up to 60% - close to the 90% level considered weapons-grade.
However, Iran continues to insist on sanctions relief while maintaining its right to enrich nuclear fuel.
Last year, the US and Iran held five rounds of negotiations to limit Tehran’s nuclear program, but the countries failed to reach a consensus due to disagreements over uranium enrichment.
