Trump responds to Zelenskyy's claim
A reporter asked Trump about comments made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding Russia's transfer of satellite imagery of US military bases in the Persian Gulf to Iran to help it identify potential targets.
Trump said he first needs to determine whether the claim is true.
"We will find out if that's true. I will ask Putin about it," the US president said.
He added that it had little impact because the US military had already completely disabled the facilities.
"You know, they gave Venezuela a lot of equipment. Venezuela had all Russian equipment. How did that work out? Not too good," Trump added.
Zelenskyy reveals details of Russia-Iran cooperation
On July 25, Zelenskyy said Russia has been regularly providing Iran with satellite images of US military facilities and Gulf countries. He added that Ukraine would share the relevant intelligence with its international partners.
"On July 19 and 20 alone, four air bases came under the observation of Russian satellites: two in Bahrain, one in Jordan, and one in Kuwait," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, Iran said it had not asked the United States to resume negotiations and that it continues to maintain control of the Strait of Hormuz. The statements came after Trump paused a two-week airstrike campaign against Iran.
It was also previously reported that the United States postponed a planned large-scale military operation against Iran. The main reason was the depletion of Patriot interceptor missile reserves.
