Who is Maduro
Nicolás Maduro has served as the President of Venezuela for 13 years following the death of Hugo Chávez, the left-wing populist leader.
Previously, the US, EU, and several other countries imposed personal and sectoral sanctions on Maduro and his inner circle, accusing him of human rights violations, election fraud, and authoritarian rule.
On the morning of January 3, the United States launched a large-scale operation against Venezuela, including airstrikes on Caracas and other regions of the country.
According to Western media, the operation on Venezuelan territory lasted 30 minutes.
Later, US President Donald Trump wrote on his social media that the operation was successful, and that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured and removed from the country. He added that the operation was carried out in coordination with US law enforcement agencies, and further details would be announced at a press conference.
RBC-Ukraine also reported Ukraine’s reaction to the situation in Venezuela. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the people of Venezuela should have the opportunity to live a normal life, as Maduro’s regime has violated all principles.
