Trump plans to continue weapons supply to Ukraine – FT

US President-elect Donald Trump does not intend to stop military aid to Ukraine. He plans to continue supplying weapons, Financial Times reports.
The media outlet notes that three unnamed sources have confirmed Trump's intention to continue providing military aid to Ukraine.
According to FT, this move would support other Western countries deeply concerned about their ability to sustain and defend Ukraine without Washington's backing.
As journalists reported, in early December, senior British officials traveled to Washington to learn about Trump's plans regarding Ukraine.
After the visit, they reported that the US President-elect opposes Ukraine's NATO membership and seeks an end to the war. However, he believes that supplying weapons to Kyiv after a ceasefire would ensure "peace through strength."
Two sources told the agency that Trump intends to demand NATO countries double their defense spending. Currently, NATO members are required to allocate 2% of their GDP annually to defense, but the elected US President aims to raise this figure to 5%.
Notably, only 23 of NATO’s 32 members currently meet the 2% defense spending target.
Trump's position on the war in Ukraine
US President-elect Donald Trump claimed that he wanted a quick end to Russia's war against Ukraine. He promised to end the war within the first 24 hours of his presidency.
Trump also promised to talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to end the war.
In January, Keith Kellogg, who will assume the role of Special Envoy for Ukraine after Trump’s inauguration, is scheduled to visit Kyiv
According to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi, Ukraine wants to convey its perspective on a just peace to Kellogg.
