Trump plans biggest celebration of US naval might

US President Donald Trump has announced a grand celebration marking the 250th anniversary of American naval power in Norfolk, according to a post he made on Truth Social.
On Sunday, October 5, Norfolk, Virginia, will host the “Salute to the Fleet” event, honoring 250 years of US naval strength.
The celebration will pay tribute to the courage and dedication of the men and women of the US Navy. The event will be attended by the First Lady, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Navy Secretary John Phelan. According to Trump, the occasion will be the largest event in the history of the US Navy.
“We mark 250 years of MARITIME DOMINANCE in the United States of America! Thousands of our brave Active Duty Servicemembers and Military Families will be in attendance,” President Donald Trump said.
He sharply criticized Democratic leaders, including Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, accusing them of trying to disrupt the celebration through a government shutdown.
“Minority Radical Left Democrats tried their best, through the ridiculous Government Shutdown, to destroy this wonderful celebration of the U.S. Navy’s Birthday, and to stop our Military Servicemembers from celebrating American Naval History. However, I believe, “THE SHOW MUST GO ON!” he emphasized.
According to Trump, preparations for the event have taken months, and despite political challenges, he will not let down the Navy as its Commander-in-Chief.
Thousands of active-duty personnel, veterans, and their families are expected to attend. The program will include ceremonial speeches, a fleet display, musical performances, and a salute.
Since the American War of Independence, the US Navy has been considered one of the world’s strongest naval forces and a key element of US global influence.
As part of the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, the US is also considering issuing new $1 coins featuring President Donald Trump.
