Trump orders investigation into Epstein's ties to former US president

Trump accused Democrats of using the "Epstein hoax" to distract from the government shutdown.

"I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him," he added.

He claimed that the individuals mentioned "spent large portions of their lives" with Epstein on his "island".

"This is another Russia, Russia, Russia scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats," he added.

Rumors involving Epstein, Russia, and Trump

Previously, Politico reported that Epstein, who was accused of coercing minors into prostitution, allegedly wanted to share information about US President Donald Trump with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

According to the report, Epstein wrote to the then-President of the EU Council, Thorbjørn Jagland, requesting that he arrange a meeting with Lavrov.

Politico also noted that in one of his letters, Epstein admitted he had discussed Trump with Russia’s then-permanent representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin.

Earlier, US House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that Trump had served as an FBI informant in the Epstein case.
