President of the United States Donald Trump stated that the US is prepared to take significant steps for peace in Ukraine. At the same time, during the joint press conference with UK Minister Keir Starmer, Trump emphasized the need to resolve the first stage of achieving this goal before discussing the second stage.

The US President made this statement in response to a question about what the US is ready to offer if not security guarantees.

"We are ready to take many measures. But when we talk about peace, it's nice to think about the fact that peace awaits us, but it must be achieved. We have had a tremendous impact on Russia. I would not want to talk about the second stage before we fully resolve all issues concerning the first stage," Trump stated.

The US President also stressed that both sides - Russia and Ukraine - will have to make certain concessions. The American President expressed hope that an agreement could be reached.

"Russia needs to agree to certain points, and Ukraine needs to accept them. We have come a long way. I hope we can reach a historic agreement," Trump concluded.

Earlier, President Donald Trump expressed confidence that he can achieve a peace deal in the war that Russia has waged against Ukraine.

The US President also stated that negotiations to end the war have made "significant progress." According to Trump, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not push for a resumption of hostilities if a truce is reached.
